Phone-a-Funeral... A Guide to Facilitating a Funeral Over the Phone

What the heck is Phone-a-Funeral?
In honor of my brother, Bill, who passed away on June 25, 2007, I offer Phone-a-Funeral. Bill did not want a traditional funeral, and wanted his ashes scattered over Monterey. In light of this, Bill's family and friends wanted to gather together to share memories and funny stories. Incidentally, this picture is of Bill and me taken in 1970.
Voila! I got the idea to facilitate a funeral over the phone. We could all be on the phone at once. No one had to travel with added expense, no one had to purchase funeral attire, no one had to feel like he or she was going to pass out when sharing stories (public speaking is the 2nd most feared thing), and no one had to try and avoid someone that he or she didn't want to see at the funeral. It turned out to be the best experience I've ever had, and we laughed so much I cried.... while wearing my jammies no less. 
We all know things are changing, and new ways of doing things are coming to light. With this said, Phone-a-Funeral, is a new way of honoring your loved one, and is so simple to implement. When you think about it, a funeral is the second largest event expense (next to a wedding), and the guest of honor isn't even there to enjoy it. Thus, Phone-a-Funeral, which allows fun and ease while saving tons of money, makes perfect sense/cents!
